News / The film “Spitak” created by a russian filmmaker has submitted to “Oscar” from Armenia

Famous Russian filmmaker Alexander Kott revealed that the drama "Spitak" about the devastating earthquake that shook Armenia, especially Spitak town on December 7, 1988, is represented to “Oscar” and will be screened in the United States - Washington, Miami, Los Angeles and New York. "Spitak" is Armenia's submission for the upcoming “best foreign language film” category at the Oscars.

Weighing in the chances to take an Oscar, the director Kott said that there aren’t so big but the nomination from Armenia is already a big achievement.

The film “Spitak” is based on real events and includes stories taken from eyewitnesses’ tales. In the movie, the director has intentionally left scenes of horror behind the camera, focusing on the feelings of the characters instead. Kott has attempted to convey the despair, panic, courage and heroism of those who tried to find their home and family despite everything.
