  1. At present time the National Gallery houses about 40 000 museum items. Part of them is displayed in 55 halls of permanent and temporary exhibitions.
  2. The National Gallery is the world’s biggest museum regarding its Armenian fine art collection and the 2nd one with Hovhannes Aivazovsky’s collection.
  3. Interactive-educational programs have been carried out in the National Gallery since 2008. And since 2015 the Summer school has been organized for children of various age groups.
  4. The National Gallery of Armenia has 12 branches in Yerevan and in the regions of the republic.
  5. The entrance to the Gallery is free with Yerevan Card.

What can be seen in the National Gallery of Armenia

The National Gallery of Armenia was founded in 1921. The collection of the museum was established based on the collection stock of the Lazarev Institute, works of the exhibition of Armenian artists in 1921 as well as on numerous donations of the major collectors of the time.

The National Gallery holds valuable works of Armenian and world art. The collection embracing the period from ancient times to the 21st century represents works of world famous artists (J. Tintoretto, Donatello, P. P. Rubens, B. Strozzi, G. Courbet, V. Kandinsky, M. Chagall, M. Sarian, H. Aivazovsky, V. Sureniants) and others.

The National Gallery is among Armenia’s most visited galleries. In 2017 the Gallery had about 95 000 visitors.
