Yerevan sightseeing

Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world. Here you can see buildings ,streets, culture  which belongs to different periods . Therefore, tourists are often unable to plan their days properly and do not have enough time to see the most important sights.

Republic Square

Republic Square is located in the heart of Yerevan. Here you can find important and prominent buildings such as the governmental buildings, National Gallery of Armenia etc.

Republic Square was built in 1924 according to the general plan of Yerevan. Here tourists and locals  meet each other  every evening when show of singing fountains begins  

Abovyan Street

The first planned street of Armenia. Here you can see the buildings that were built many years before the general plan of nowadays Yerevan. Here were built the oldest churches in Yerevan, Peter and Paul Catholic Church, wich was located in the territory of  Moscow Cinema and demolished by the Soviet authorities in the 1930s.

Through the walking in Abovyan street, you'll feel yourself in a medieval Caucasian city, where many cafes,  shops are located.

Opera and Ballet Theater

In 1926 Aleksandr Tamanyan was ordered to make the blueprint of the Opera Theater.

Tamanyan decided to design a building that would meet all the requirements of the beautiful architecture of a modern theatre. This project of Tamanyan won a golden medal at the World Expo in Paris.

Cascade

This is one of the favorite places of both locals and tourists . The complex was built in 1970, whose aim was to connect the northern and southern parts of the city. In subsequent years it was constantly changed and improved for finalizing in 2002 due to  L. Cafesjian

In Cascade there is a currently Cafesjian  Art Centre.

From there opens a wonderful view of Yerevan and  Mount  Ararat , which is  one of the  symbols of Armenia.

Matenadaran

The Matenadaran is located in the heart of Yerevan and reflects the part of the history of the Armenian people, which is dedicated to the Armenian alphabet. Matenadaran means a letter storage. It originated from the beginning of the 5th century when Mesrop Mashtots created the Armenian alphabet.

The Matenadaran is one of the unique museums around the world where you can see a huge collection of manuscripts, which was written  far back in the Middle Ages.

Erebuni Museum

The history of Yerevan dates back to 2800 years ago, when King Argishti founded the famous Erebuni fortress, which later was called Yerevan.

The best proof of the history of Yerevan is the Erebuni Museum in the same place.

History Museum of Armenia

One of the most important museums in Armenia - the History Museum and the National Gallery are located in  one of the most beautiful buildings of Republic Square.

In history museum you can see items with are more than 2,000 years old. The museum is a place that reflects the entire history of the Armenian people.

National Gallery of Armenia

National Gallery was founded  in 1921. Here you can see works of Armenian masters of different times, decorations of medieval Armenian monasteries with ornaments and so on.

Ararat Brandy Factory

Armenian brandy is one of the best ones in the world. It’s story begins in the 19th century and shortly afterwards becomes one of the most famous brandies in the world

In the Ararat brandy factory you can  take a tour, taste various brandies , make shopping and more.

Yerevan Station:

Yerevan station was founded in 1899. And the current building, which has attracted so many tourists with its beautiful architecture, was built in 1956 .

Locals frequently call the station Sasuntsi David station. The reason is the Sasuntsi Davit Square is in front of the station, with its  monument of Sasuntsi Davit. The author of the monument is Yervand Kochar.

Sasuntsi Davit is the hero of the Armenian national epic poem. David is one of the most beloved figures of the Armenian people, because he himself reflects the characteristic of our nation in one image.

The Square of Sasuntsi Davit, the statue and the beautiful building of the station have become one of well known places among the tourists
